Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the differences between 16-bit and 32-bit LPC2478 OEM Boards? Pros and cons?

With 32-bit databus width you get a higher memory bandwidth to the external SDRAM. This will increase execution speed for program code in external SDRAM and it will also lower the effects of refreshing the LCD (if present). The drawback is that more pins are used for the databus, instead of being general purpose I/O:s. With 16-bit databus width there are 16 more general purpose I/O:s available. The drawback is lower memory bandwidth to external SDRAM, with may, or may not, be a problem. It depends on your specific application need.
